Marcy's story

Hello, my name is Marcy. I’m an emergency department technician at West Suffolk Hospital.

My role involves resource management and supervising some members of staff. It seemed to change rapidly, almost overnight, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Across the emergency department, we all had to adapt. We obviously had to prepare for people coming in to the department who potentially had COVID-19. It was a whole redesigning project to ensure patients were seen swiftly and either discharged on moved on to the right ward.

It’s been a very tough six months but the emergency department team, but everyone, from the receptionists, to the nurses, to the doctors, pulled together as a team. They’ve truly been incredible.
