Benign gynaecology service

The benign gynaecology service at West Suffolk Hospital is run by a team of consultants and nurses.

We see patients with a range of gynaecological symptoms; these include menstrual disorders (heavy, painful, irregular or absent vaginal bleeding), pelvic pain (including endometriosis), ovarian cysts, menopause, recurrent miscarriage and adolescent gynaecology.  We work closely with the chronic pain team, the radiology department and the colorectal and urology teams.

 

Services provided:

  • Specialist clinics for menstrual disorders and menopause (accredited by the British Menopause Society)..
  • Medical, interventional and surgical treatments including:
    • Diagnostic Hysteroscopy
    • Endometrial polypectomy
    • Transcervical resection of fibroid
    • Myosure
    • Novasure endometrial ablation  
    • Diagnostic Laparoscopy
    • Laparoscopic Ovarian cystectomy
    • Laparoscopic sterilisation
    • Laparoscopic excision of endometriosis
    • Vaginal hysterectomy
    • Laparoscopic hysterectomy
    • Open hysterectomy
    • Myomectomy
    • Uterine artery embolisation
