The birthing unit

The midwife led birthing unit offers women the choice to birth in a relaxed, comfortable, ‘home from home’ environment. If you have a low risk, uncomplicated pregnancy you will be offered the option of birthing your baby in the birthing unit.

Services provided

The care on the birthing unit is provided by a team of midwives. There are no obstetricians, anaesthetists or paediatricians, however the birthing unit is co-located next to the labour suite and should a complication arise you can be immediately transferred.
