Video consultations
A video consultation is an easy way for you to have your appointment with your care team, without the need for you to travel to the hospital. It can save you time and money and allows you to see your clinician from the comfort of your own home.
We have partnered with DrDoctor to deliver this service to you.
How do video consultations work?
We will notify you of your video consultation by text message/email.
What do I need to be able to access my video consultation?
- A device with a camera and speaker (these are usually built into your smartphone, tablet, or laptop).
- Good connection to the internet. We recommend using Wi-Fi where possible which may have a better connection and will not use your mobile data allowance.
- A quiet, well-lit room where you will not be disturbed. If you are by a bright light, like a window, sit so the light is on your face and not behind you.
- A table or surface to prop your device on, so your camera stays steady during the call.
Please note that video consultations do not work on Internet Explorer. The best browsers to use are Chrome, Safari and Edge.
How do I start my appointment?
One to two hours before your appointment, we’ll send you a text message/email with a secure link to your video consultation.
Click this link a few minutes before your appointment to join your private video consultation. This will take you to your private video waiting room, ahead of your clinician joining.
Please wait for your clinician to join. Occasionally there may be a short delay if the clinician needs to spend a little longer with another patient. If this happens, please stay on the call – your clinician may send you a message within the call to let you know.
What if I have difficulty?
If there are any problems with your video consultation, your clinician will phone you on your home or mobile number.
Please ensure you have provided us with this so we can get in touch with you if we need to. If you need to be contacted on a different email address or telephone number, please contact the appointments centre as soon as possible.
