West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust calls for the public to share their memories
As West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (WSFT) prepares its new home at Hardwick Manor, the public are asked to share their memories of the site.
In 2020 it was announced that WSFT were a part of the Government’s New Hospital Programme, with outline planning permission granted in 2022 for the replacement West Suffolk Hospital to be sited on the Hardwick Manor estate. As part of the planning permission process, archaeological works have been carried out, but the team behind the hospital are keen to understand the history and stories of the site which the ground may not be able to share.
Jacqui Grimwood, West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust estates lead for the Future System team, said: “We believe that Hardwick Manor has a rich and diverse history which we would like to mark in some way in the new hospital. With the 50th anniversary of the current hospital approaching, we wanted to take this unique opportunity to delve into the history of the future home of West Suffolk Hospital.
“We are very keen to hear from anyone who has memories that they are willing to share to help us tell the story of the hospital in its new home.”
Stories, photos and memories can be shared by emailing the team on futuresystemprogramme@wsh.nhs.uk or by writing to:
