We're nationally recognised as a top hospital
Our Trust has been named as one of 40 CHKS Top Hospitals for 2019, as part of the leading data-driven healthcare awards ceremony.
Running for 18 years, the prestigious, national CHKS Top Hospitals Awards recognise hospitals that are safer for patients, more effective, more efficient and have lower mortality, comparing the performance of all hospitals throughout England, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Over 22 indicators of performance* were analysed by CHKS, healthcare improvement specialists, spanning clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care, including inpatient surveys, reported C-difficile rate for patients aged 2 and over, the NHS staff survey, and emergency readmission rates, for example.
Stephen Dunn, CBE, chief executive, said: “Time and again our staff show how outstanding they really are, and being recognised once again as one of the top 40 hospitals in the country is a real honour for us.
“Our staff are providing top quality NHS care even though they are under pressure and there are challenges every day, so I’d like to dedicate this award to all of our hardworking staff who dedicate their lives to serving others and who go the extra mile to look after our community.”
Moyra Amess, Director, Benchmarking, Assurance & Accreditation, Capita Healthcare Decisions, said: “CHKS celebrates overall excellence in trusts across the UK, and our awards recognise hospitals that are safer for patients, more effective and more efficient - areas which we believe are critical to delivering good patient care and experience.”
The awards were held in London on the 12 June and were hosted by ITV News medical correspondent Sue Saville.
