Trust appoint experienced consultant as interim medical director

The West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has appointed Paul Molyneux as interim medical director. Paul, who has been a consultant at the Trust for over 18 years, takes on the role for the next 12 months. Paul was previously the Trust's deputy medical director.

Paul said: “I’m delighted to be taking on the role as interim medical director at the Trust. It goes without saying that this has been an incredibly difficult time for all of the NHS but every single person across our Trust has gone above and beyond in caring for the residents of west Suffolk since the pandemic began.

“I am passionate about helping those around me to develop both professionally and personally. I’m lucky to have been involved in many projects to help improve the quality of care patients receive since starting at the Trust nearly 20 years ago and have seen huge changes not only in the way we treat patients but in medicine as a whole. I’m very excited to get started.”

Trust chief executive Stephen Dunn said: “Paul brings many years of consultant experience with him as well as the knowledge he has developed as deputy medical director.

“Paul is a very well-known professional at the Trust and I have no doubt he will continue to lead our doctors with care, compassion and success that we have seen over the last few years. We’re very excited that he has accepted this role.”

Paul takes over from previous medical director Nick Jenkins who has stepped down due to caring responsibilities for his family but will remain working at the Trust as a part-time emergency department consultant.
