Find out more about the history of the Trust at our Annual Members' Meeting and healthcare marketplace

The West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is holding its Annual Members’ Meeting and healthcare marketplace on Tuesday, 24 September 2024 at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds.

Everyone is welcome to attend this event, which this year celebrates 50 years since the opening of the West Suffolk Hospital on Hardwick Lane. There will be information stands in the healthcare marketplace, open from 3.30pm, with opportunities to explore the history of the hospital, meet clinicians and colleagues from across the Trust, and hear about the Trust’s plans for the future.

Chief executive, Dr Ewen Cameron, will present a review of what’s been happening at the Trust over the last 12 months, to be followed by special interest talks focused on the West Suffolk Hospital’s landmark 50-year anniversary. This will include a look at how diagnostic imaging has been revolutionised in the past decades, and its ongoing vital role in diagnosis, treatment and screening to help prevent ill-health. The Trust’s research and development team will also highlight the innovative work being undertaken to support and advance patient care.

The foyer and first floor of The Apex will host a marketplace with stands from partner organisations in the health, care and voluntary sector. One of the aims of the marketplace is to give attendees the opportunity to access health testing, find out more about the support available to them in our community, and the ways in which they can look after their own health and wellbeing. There will also be stalls focusing on the 50th anniversary of the West Suffolk Hospital.

The Trust’s chair, Jude Chin, said: “Our annual event is a chance for us to welcome our local community and share information on how the Trust is performing, its achievements, and the challenges and opportunities we face now and in the future. This is a milestone year for us with the 50th anniversary of the West Suffolk Hospital, and we know our Trust and its staff hold a unique place in west Suffolk and beyond. I hope visitors to The Apex will be interested to see some fascinating archive material, and learn more about the past, present and future of the Trust.”

The doors open at 3.30pm, with the main presentations in the auditorium between 5.30 and 6.35pm. Light refreshments will be provided. The cattle market car park is a short walk away, and parking is free on Tuesdays from 3.00pm. Members and non-members are welcome.
