Explore a new career at our healthcare academy

People considering working in one of the hundreds of careers offered by the NHS can find out more about how to join the organisation at a series of free online events next month.

Our Trust - which is responsible for West Suffolk Hospital, Newmarket Community Hospital, and a range of community services across Suffolk - is holding three weekend information sessions in September.

The NHS offers more than 350 different job roles - from well-known frontline health roles like nursing to less well-associated areas like data and IT, estates and facilities, education and training, and communications.

The sessions will cover the full range of jobs, and are ideal for people looking for a change and use their past experiences and expertise to support one of the country's most cherished institutions.

Programme leader Rachel Grimwood said: "The Covid-19 pandemic really demonstrated how vital the NHS is to all our lives, and there is no better way to support it than becoming part of the team, whether that is dealing with patients face to face or in more behind-the-scenes roles that are crucial to making sure our clinicians can do their jobs.

"Our virtual sessions will feature talks on the diverse NHS roles available and how you can prepare for an interview when applying for an NHS job.

"This sessions build on our successful healthcare academy for students wanting to gain an overview of a careers in healthcare, but this time aimed at adults looking for new opportunities."

The online sessions will take place between 9am and 12pm on 11, 18, and 25 September and are free to attend - email rachel.grimwood@wsh.nhs.uk to book a place.
