Archery duo head to the Netherlands

Mum and daughter duo, Karen and Natasja Pinches, who both work at the West Suffolk Hospital, are heading off to the Netherlands for the 2019 International Field Archery Association European Field Archery Championships.

Along with Charlie Pinches, (Karen’s husband and Natasja’s dad) who was the first member of the family to take up archery, the talented group are hoping to win some more medals, fresh from successfully competing in the United Kingdom and Ireland Field Archery Championships in South Wales recently, where each of the family won gold in their specific competitive categories. This will be the first European competition that Natasja has competed in using her new freestyle bow.

Mum Karen said: “It was a challenging course in Wales, as we’re not used to training on hilly terrain here in Suffolk! However, we’re proud of our achievements and are ready to do our best in the Europeans.”

When not holding a bow and arrow, Karen and Natasja are usually hard at work in the West Suffolk Hospital. Natasja works in the eye treatment centre, and Karen has recently moved to a new department, to the medical treatment unit, so has a whole new team of supporters rooting for her!

The family will compete against competitors from across Europe, in both ‘field’ and ‘hunter’ rounds, where targets are placed at even, or uneven, distances away from the archer.

The 2019 International Field Archery Association European Field Archery Championships will take place from the 2 – 10 August in Doorwerth, the Netherlands.
